2011 NCKU Outstanding Alumnus Award
1. Dr. Yuh-geng Tsay received his B.S. degree from the Department of Chemistry, National Cheng Kung University in 1970. Dr. Yuh-geng Tsay now serves as the President and board of direct of PEG Biosciences Inc., a board member of North America Taiwanese Engineers’ Association. He has made great contributions not only to the society but also to his alma mater. Upon the recommendation of College of Science, Dr. Tsay is selected as a recipient of 2011 NCKU Outstanding Alumnus Award by the Selection Committee.
 
2. Mr. Show-Chung Ho, who received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1967, currently serves as Chairman of SinoPac Financial Holdings Company Ltd. Mr. Ho has made significant contributions to the nation’s economic development and the sustainability of paper, electronic, and financial industries. He is also known for his philanthropic services in public welfare. Upon the recommendation of the College of Engineering, the Selection Committee has nominated Mr. Ho as the recipient of 2011 NCKU Outstanding Alumnus Award in recognition of his distinguished achievements.
 
3. Professor Show-An Chen, who received his BS and MS degrees from the Department of Chemical Engineering at National Cheng Kung University in 1962 and 1965, respectively, is currently Distinguished Chair Professor at National Tsing Hua University. Professor Chen has achieved outstanding accomplishments in the research of polymer optoelectronic materials and devices and has made great contribution to the internationalization of polymer research in Taiwan. Nominated by the College of Engineering, Professor Chen is selected by the Committee of the Outstanding Alumnus Award of National Cheng Kung University as the recipient of this award for the 2011 academic year.
 
4. Mr. Jason Hsuan, a graduate from the Department of Electrical Engineering at National Cheng Kung University (1968), is currently the board Chairman and CEO of TPV Technology Limited. TPV is a leading display solutions provider; it designs and products of a full range of PC monitors and LCD TVs on ODM basis are distributed worldwide. Mr. Hsuan’s achievement has marked a milestone in the development of Taiwan’s Electronic industry. He has not only made great contribution to the society but also set a model for NCKU Alumni. Nominated by the College of Electrical Engineering, Mr. Hsuan is selected as a recipient of the 2011 NCKU Outstanding Alumnus Award by the Selection Committee.
 
5. Dr. Biing-Seng Wu, who received his bachelor, master and PhD. degrees from the Department of Electrical Engineering at National Cheng Kung University in 1980, 1982, and 1986, respectively, is currently the board Chairman of Himax Technologies Company. Dr. Wu’s accomplishment has marked a milestone in the development of Taiwan’s Electronic industry. He has also contributed to the second Electrical Engineering Department Building. He has not only made great contribution to the society but also set a model for NCKU Alumni. Nominated by the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Dr. Wu is selected as a recipient of the 2011 NCKU Outstanding Alumnus Award by the Selection Committee.
 
6. Mr. Pao-Teh Han, who received his B.S. degree from the Department of Architecture at National Cheng Kung University in 1960, is Curator Emeritus of the Museum of World Religions, Senior Advisor to the President, and advisor to various cultural and educational organizations. He is the founding president of Tainan National University of the Arts, as well as the founding director of National Museum of Natural Science. Mr. Han has made great contributions to the society in architecture and the arts; he is also a great educator as an architect, writer, and curator. Upon the recommendation of College of Planning and Design, Mr. Han is selected as a recipient of 2011 NCKU Outstanding Alumnus Award by the Selection Committee.
 
7.Mr. Shen-Chang Chenreceived his B.S. from the Department of Industrial Design at National Cheng Kung University in 1980. He is currently Chief Architect of Web Collaboration of AVAYA, INC. He has made great contributions to the Quick Time Virtual Reality. Upon the recommendation of College of Planning and Design, Mr. Chen is selected as a recipient of 2011 NCKU Outstanding Alumnus Award by the Selection Committee.
 
8. Mr. Ching-Nain Tsai, who received his B.A. degree from the Department of Transportation and Communication Management Science, and M.B.A. degree from the Department of Industrial Management Science at National Cheng Kung University in 1975 and 1977, respectively, is currently the Chairman of First Commercial Bank. He has made great contributions in the field of Public Finance and Banking in Taiwan. Nominated by the College of Management, Mr. Tsai is selected as a recipient of the 2011 NCKU Outstanding Alumnus Award by the Selection Committee.
