2012 NCKU Outstanding Alumnus Award | All of NCKU Outstanding Alumnus Award
1. Professor Michael Jen-Kwei Chen, who received his BA degree from the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature at National Cheng Kung University in 1971, is currently the President of Shih Chien University. Professor Chen has demonstrated outstanding performances in academic cooperation and internationalization and made great contribution and devotion to higher education and social concerns in Taiwan. Professor Michael Jen-Kwei Chen is nominated by the College of Liberal Arts and elected by the Committee of the Outstanding Alumnus Award of National Cheng Kung University as a recipient of this award for the 2012 academic year.
2. Dr. George Hsieh, a graduate of the Physics Department at National Cheng Kung University in 1968, is currently the president of Northwestern Polytechnic University (NPU). He has been dedicated to the fields of science, technology, and management for more than three decades. With a highly intensive, object-oriented educational model, Dr. Hsieh has led NPU in cultivating thousands of its students into successful professionals. NPU has rapidly become one of the most respectable academic institutions in Silicon Valley. To honor his achievements, Dr. George Hsieh is nominatedby the College of Science and elected by the Committee of the Outstanding Alumnus Award as a recipient of the award for the 2012 academic year.
3. Dr. Ching-Tien Liou received his BS degree from the Department of Chemical Engineering at National Cheng Kung University in 1966 and has served in academic circles for a long time. He has been the President of National Taiwan University of Science and Technology for 10 years and has demonstrated outstanding performances in teaching, research, and service. Dr. Ching-Tien Liou is nominated by the College of Engineering and elected by the Committee of the Outstanding Alumnus Award of National Cheng Kung University as a recipient of this award for the 2012 academic year.
4. Mr. Yu-Soong Chen, who received his BS degree from the Department of Engineering Science at National Cheng Kung University in 1971, is currently the Chairman of Chung Hung Steel. Mr. Chen has demonstrated outstanding performances in research of steel technology and made great contribution to the development of steel industry in Taiwan. Mr. Yu-Soong Chen is nominated by the College of Engineering and elected by the Committee of the Outstanding Alumnus Award of National Cheng Kung University as a recipient of this award for the 2012 academic year.
5. President Kuo-Wei Chang, who received his BS degree from the Department of Systems and Naval Mechatronic Engineering at National Cheng Kung University in 1977, is currently the President of EVA Air. President Chang has demonstrated outstanding performances in the shipping industry and has contributed greatly to the transportation service in Taiwan. President Kuo-Wei Chang is nominated by the College of Engineering and elected by the Committee of the Outstanding Alumnus Award of National Cheng Kung University as a recipient of this award for the 2012 academic year.
6. Professor Kang L. Wang, who received his BS degree from the Department of Electronic Engineering at National Cheng Kung University in 1964, is currently a Distinguished Professor at University of California, Los Angeles. Professor Wang has demonstrated outstanding performances in the areas of semi-conductor,nano-devices and nano-technology, and contributed greatly to Taiwan’s higher education and the development of advanced technology industries. Professor Kang L. Wang is nominated by the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and elected by the Committee of the Outstanding Alumnus Award of the National Cheng Kung University as a recipient of this award for the 2012 academic year.
7. Mr. Mei Cheng, who received his BS degree from the Department of Architecture Engineering at National Cheng Kung University in 1962, is currently a Principal Architect of the Fei & Cheng Associates. Mr. Cheng has demonstrated outstanding performances in architectural practice and made great contribution to the education of architecture in Taiwan. Mr. Cheng is nominated by the College of Planning and Design and elected by the Committee of the Outstanding Alumnus Award of National Cheng Kung University as a recipient of this award for the 2012 academic year.
8. Professor Victor W. Liu, who received his B.B.A. degree from the Department of Business Administration at National Cheng Kung University in 1974, is currently a Chair Professor at National Sun Yat-sen University. Professor Liu has demonstrated outstanding performances in both government agencies and business fields and made great contribution to the development of higher education in Taiwan. Professor Victor W. Liu is nominated by the College of Management and elected by the Committee of the Outstanding Alumnus Awards of National Cheng Kung University as a recipient of this award for the 2012 academic year.
9. Mr. Chau-Lin Yang, who received his BS degree from the Department of Accounting and Statistics at National Chen Kung University in 1960, is currently the General Manager of the Group Administration Office at Formosa Plastics Group. Mr. Yang has demonstrated outstanding performances in the business management and made great contribution to the development of economy in Taiwan. Mr. Chau-Lin Yang is nominated by the College of Management and elected by the Committee of the Outstanding Alumnus Award of National Chen Kung University as a recipient of this award for the 2012 academic year.
